Engl 202 Second Blog Assignment
I just finished reading "Attached to Technology and Paying a Price" by Matt Richtel. Although it is a well written and well supported article, I can't help but think that this change is natural and harmless. I often find myself checking email before starting a project or pausing in the middle of work to check facebook. It's not because I have some sort of alarm in my brain, it's because I need a break. As technology becomes easier and easier to access, we as a society and as individuals will adapt. When the TV started taking over the lives of teens some 40 years ago, I'm sure some of the same worries developed. I feel we have greater things to worry about, like the diets of our society and the fact that if we were to spread the debt of this nation to every person who calls it home, each person (everyone, even newborns) would owe something like $44,900. Technology is only moving forward, becoming easier and faster. I agree that we cannot let it become our lives making us mindless zombies, but I see no point in fighting it. We need to be aware of ourselves, take breaks, socialize, spend time with our families. I think that is our individual responsibility as a human, no matter how our brain is adapting to better receive technology.
